Makati City, Philippines — Holcim Philippines Inc. has been recognized by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) with two major awards: the EPR Partners Leadership award and Waste Diverter award. This underscores the company’s leadership in advancing plastic waste solutions in the country. The awarding ceremony was held last January 30, 2026, at the New World Makati Hotel in Makati City.
Holcim Philippines received the Waste Diverter Award, in acknowledgment of its invaluable contributions to plastic waste recovery and systems strengthening under the Extended Producer Responsibility framework. The award highlights Holcim Philippines’ efforts in diverting plastic waste from the environment through effective recovery, recycling, and circular economy solutions through its waste management arm, Geocycle.
Holcim Philippines was named a recipient of the EPR Partners Leadership Award, recognizing its strong partnership and support for PlastiCon25, a multistakeholder and cross-sectoral platform that promotes collaboration among government, industry, academe, and civil society to address plastic pollution. The initiative has been hailed as a significant contribution in strengthening partnerships and driving collective action toward sustainable waste management.
The EPR Recognition Program, led by the DENR in partnership with the Philippine Alliance for Recycling and Materials Sustainability (PARMS), celebrates organizations that demonstrate leadership and tangible results in implementing Republic Act No. 11898, or the EPR Act of 2022, through advancing national strategies, fostering multi-sector collaboration, and supporting long-term environmental sustainability.
Representing Holcim Philippines in receiving the awards are Jill Iris Ramos, Chief Sustainability Officer; and Sam Manlosa, SVP, Head of Geocycle.
“These recognitions reflect our strong commitment to sustainability and the power of collaboration in addressing plastic pollution,” said Jill Iris Ramos, Chief Sustainability Officer. “Through initiatives such as PlastiCon25 and our waste recovery programs, we continue to work closely with partners across sectors to deliver meaningful environmental impact and support the country’s circular economy goals.”
“This award reflects the strength of our co-processing operations and the measurable impact we are delivering on the ground,” shared by Sam Manlosa, SVP, Head of Geocycle. “By safely transforming plastic waste into alternative fuel and raw materials, we not only improve environmental performance but we also create sustainable, long-term waste solutions for our partner communities.”
Holcim Philippines remains committed to driving sustainable manufacturing practices, advancing circular economy solutions, and supporting national efforts to reduce plastic waste and protect the environment.
