Holcim Philippines relaunches dry mix line as Tector

To highlight its steady transformation into a building solutions provider, Holcim Philippine has rebranded its mortar products for walls and floors to Tector in line with the global branding for these offerings.

Holcim’s tile adhesives are now called Tector Ceram while skim coats and specialty mortars are branded as Tector Plast. The Tector products are also available in new packaging shifting to teal and white bags from brown ones. While the packaging design has been changed, these still offer the same excellent building performance for plastering, block laying, and plastering.

Tector will be available nationwide starting the second week of April. Holcim Philippines has prepared a promotion campaign with the tagline Palaging Panalo given Tector’s guarantee of excellent performance for finishing and great value to customers.

Holcim Philippines President and CEO Horia Adrian: “Shifting to Tector is an important part of accelerating our transformation as the leader in sustainable and innovative building solutions. These products enable us to participate in the stable repair and renovation segment to complement our cement business. Tector also supports our sustainability thrust given the lower environmental footprint of these materials. I am hopeful this rebrand will provide us an additional boost in growing this important business.”

The company’s shift to Tector is part of the global transition of dry mix products of the Holcim Group and highlights its continuing efforts to diversify offerings beyond cement. It also supports the Holcim Philippines' efforts to expand its line of green building products by expanding its portfolio of low-carbon cement.

Tector Ceram comes in three variants with number codes that indicate their specific use –Tector 321 for large tiles, Tector 311 for non-porous tiles, and Tector 300 for porous tiles. Formulated with special polymers, all three provide superior adhesion for tiling.

Meanwhile, there are four Tector Plast variants. Those needing plasters to smoothen surfaces with imperfections 1-3 millimeters (mm) deep can use Tector 211SF and  Tector 211F to correct blemishes 3 to 5 mm deep. Tector 117, meanwhile, is a polymer-enhanced mortar for masonry that can be used just by adding water. Finally, Tector 142 is a special adhesive for concrete blocks.
