Employees of building solutions provider Holcim Philippines, Inc. along with volunteers from its business partners and communities collected more than three tons of wastes near bodies of water close to their facilities nationwide in support of the International Coastal Cleanup in September.

The company and its partners conducted clean-up drives in Bagbag Cove in La Union, Matictic River in Bulacan, San Rafael Shore in Batangas, Mansaya Shore in Iloilo, Publacion Coast in Misamis Oriental and Ilang River in Davao City from September 1 to 29. More than 900 people from the company and its partners joined the activities.

Holcim Philippines Environment Manager Stephanie Frogoso said the company plans to regularly mobilize employees and partners to participate in the annual activity. Aside from the coastal and river cleanups, she added that Holcim Philippines also implements community seminars on proper waste management to help lessen discarded materials ending in bodies of water.

These are part of the company’s “Holcim Helps” social assistance campaign and sustainability commitment to be a partner to its communities in taking care of nature.
