Holcim Philippines calls on consumers to support sustainable companies

Holcim Philippines President and CEO Eduardo Sahagun called on consumers to support companies committed to sustainability during the Kalikasan GP3 Expo Confence last 25 July 2015. Sahagun said supporting these companies enables them to further invest in keeping operations safe and environment-friendly.

Consumers can influence companies to be more responsible by supporting those committed to sustainable practices, an official of cement maker Holcim Philippines, Inc. said in a recent conference on green buildings and sustainable construction.

During the Kalikasan GP3 Expo Conference 2015 last month, Holcim Philippines President and CEO Eduardo Sahagun said choosing green products encourages companies to continue investing in sustainability.

“As a member of the LafargeHolcim Group, which is included in the Dow Jones sustainability index, we follow high standards of sustainability wherever we operate. Viability for us means living a balance of people, planet and profit,” he said.

Sahagun shared that Holcim Philippines, whose products are recognized as environment-friendly by the Philippine Center for Environmental Protection and Sustainable Development, Inc. (PCEPSDI), has a rich biodiversity in its rehabilitated quarries. Validated by an independent study by experts from the Dilliman Science Research Foundation, the flora and fauna ecosystems that thrive in its ecoparks include various rare species.

Sahagun also said Holcim Philippines is committed to further reduce its carbon footprint through efficiency initiatives and product innovations.

“Our products that have been awarded the ecolabel for being environment-friendly, help us fulfill our CO2 reduction targets. We are offering these products that help our customers,” he said.

The conference was organized by PCEPSDI and the Philippine Green Building Council.
