Holcim Philippines certified as Best Employer

For programs that ensure its people are highly engaged in their work, leading cement manufacturer Holcim Philippines, Inc. recently earned a Best Employer certification from global human resource consultancy Aon Hewitt.

The citation, based on an Aon Hewitt survey of Holcim Philippines’s 1,700 employees, showed the cement manufacturer enjoyed a positive perception from its workforce particularly for occupational health and safety, organizational reputation, innovation, and managing performance. The results are ranged against the standards of the Aon Hewitt global employee engagement database.

Holcim Philippines CEO Eduardo Sahagun attributed the citation to the company’s deliberate efforts to take care of employees and provide development opportunities, citing that a highly engaged workforce is a key to good corporate performance.

“Cement manufacturing is always associated with the large industrial facilities and heavy machines, but our most important asset remains our people. Last year, we delivered our best-ever financial performance in the company’s history and this was made possible by our highly engaged workforce,” he added.

Holcim Philippines Vice President for Human Resources Araceli Gonzales said the company continues to look for ways to further improve engagement and hopes the citation will help the company further attract talent.

“We are very proud to be a leader in the construction sector and believe that we are also competitive in providing a conducive environment to care for and develop our employees. We hope that this recognition will hopefully also raise the company’s profile as an employer,“ she said.

Aon Hewitt said its research shows that high employee engagement, a compelling employer brand, effective leadership and a high performance culture, translate into a committed and productive workforce that delivers stronger business results.

The Aon Hewitt Certified Best Employer global program compares organizations to identify those that strive to create competitive advantage through their people and become employers of choice. It recognizes organizations that are driving high employee engagement, effective leadership, high performance culture and a compelling employer brand strategy.  The globally consistent methodology is based on over 20 years of employee research experience at Aon Hewitt.
